Cluster headache sufferer 'never goes anywhere without oxygen'
A Florida resident recently revealed that he suffered with excruciating pain from cluster headaches before breathing oxygen-enriched air, which completely changed their life.
An anonymous letter to the People's Pharmacy revealed that he came close to ending things because the agony was too much to bear and the treatments prescribed had little effect.
However, after a consultation at the Headache Clinic in Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, the sufferer was told to explore the benefits of pure oxygen and noticed the effects almost immediately.
"Amazingly, the first time I used the oxygen the headache was gone in several minutes. It was the first real relief I had gotten in years … I am never without my oxygen. I keep a portable tank with me wherever I go," the reader stated.
Dr Peter Goadsby, from the Headache Center at the University of San Francisco, recently told delegates at the American Neurological Association's 133rd annual meeting that oxygen therapy should be considered as a first-line treatment for cluster headache sufferers.
